Our research results are based on a survey with the 300 biggest enterprises of the Hungarian manufacturing industry. We are measuring their labour demand for recent graduates and analysing the factors that determine this demand.

Our recent study is a jointresearch with the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce andIndustryand itis based on a survey conducted between August and October 2004. It aims to measure the anticipations of SME's on business climate and employment trends. Our database consists the answers of 3586 enterprises.

On the occassion of the first anniversary of Hungary's EU accession, our survey in the SME Outlook - second in a row - focused on the business conjecture and also dealt with the effects of EU accession on the lives of the enterprises. We paid special attention to the new foreign trade opportunities and the realignment of market conditions, and similarly to the national and European institutional characteristics that affected the business climate.

The IEER Business Climate and Conjuncture Survey from April 2004 asked 1461 enterprises about the effects of central bank base rate on the enterprises demand for loans and investment activity. We intended to measure how much influence had the central bank base rate – that stayed at 12.25% before we started our survey – on short- and long-term borrowings of enterprises and on their investment activities.

In this research - as a continuation of a previous survey at IEER – we analysed the usage of information technology and internet of Hungarian enterprises.

This joint research ofthe Institute of Economic and Enterprise Research and the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry aimed to contribute to the determination of the Hungarian position on the EU directive on internal market of services.

In this research, the Institute of Economic and Enterprise Research - in cooperation with the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry - focused on the actual business situation, on the anticipations for the near future and on the factors affecting business behaviour of enterprises from the commercial sector.

The aim of the research is to visualise and analyse trends in the economic development of Northern Hungary and to give an explanatory view on the actual economic situation of the region.
