Monthly Bulletin of Economic Trends
IEER Monthly Bulletin of Economic Trends: August, 2015

A recently published study by IEER looks into the further education choices of seventh-grade primary school students about to make their choice of career. The results are based on the outcome of a national career guidance test by the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI). Most seventh grade students had already addressed the issue of further education, especially in conversations with their parents. The most influential factor in decisions regarding further education is precisely this, that is, the advice of parents, their educational level, and their occupation.
Parents that are skilled workers or laborers tend to guide their children in choosing a career more closely, and are more inclined to careers in mechanical engineering, metallurgy and physical jobs.
